Description

The Roof Thatcher from an oil painting by Claude Buckle. The picture shows Dean Cottage in Vernham Dean being thatched in 1948. The view is the same as the picture entitled The Porch which is just off to the left of the picture. The Thatcher is on the ladder which is leaning on the large sloping roof of the 1700 century house. This painting was originally called ‘The Thatcher’.
